polaroid #014

I posted this polaroid because I am feeling unwell, and when i’m unwell I really miss my mum even more than usual. Mister E and I have been feeling snotty and miserable together for the last couple of days. Little man picked up a cold somewhere and promptly shared it with mummy, (then I kindly shared it with daddy). between us we’ve gone through three big boxes of tissues. Mister E has seen me blow my nose so often that he imitates me. I thought he was such a clever boy, in the car he sneezed and I couldn’t quite reach around to wipe his nose, so I handed him the tissue and he did it himself. I thought – wow this boy is a genius, thirteen months and he can blow his nose – then he ate the tissue. Hmmmm, almost genius.

severe weather warning not all bad

It’s been a cold, wet and windy weekend here in Perth. It wasn’t all bad though, between the episodes of rain and wind the sky gave us rainbows and sunbeams. Awwww…

Going for a drive at four in the afternoon.

twisted tea party

We ventured out of Fremantle today and went all the way to Subiaco. Mister E and I had a breakfast date with my two favorite ladies, it was lovely, though very early. We got there just after 7am! Mister E has been getting me out of bed at 5am for the past week and today he wants a sleep in, the only day we have to be out of bed early. After breakfast we had a little visit to the library. There is the most exquisite mural on the wall by the obscenely talented Shaun Tan. It’s incredibly detailed and layered, though I thought it was a little bit frightening. I will have to get one of his books for Mister E when he is a bit older.

Wake up and smell the coffee

Mister E and I went on a little shopping adventure to buy his daddy some ground coffee. I’ve discovered that with a little one, even the most mundane things can become adventures. We always go to Kakulas Sister, on South Terrace to get our coffee. I love going there, they sell the coffee in huge hessian sacks. Along with all kinds of other ingredients that you can purchase by the scoop, from stoneground wholemeal flour to pinto beans. I always buy a big stick of dried papaya for a treat for Mister E. He loves the sweet sticky dried fruit, and devours it in no time. After we leave the store we leave an aromatic trail of ground coffee all over town. Mmmmmmm, I might have to go make myself a latte right now.
