Verge collection is the ultimate in thrifting, a few times a year all around the neighbourhood people put out their unwanted items onto the side of the road and it’s a free-for-all. You have to be very quick to get the good stuff or be lucky enough to be going past the right verge at the right time. In the last couple of weeks I have picked up a couple of things I have been meaning to buy anyway and a few new projects-to-do. Like I need any more projects, but I can’t resist free stuff. My Hubby thinks I’m crazy and infuriating, and threatens to put my finds back on the verge in front of our house, but I happily ignore him.
I am very keen on looking out for roadside bargains, but not as keen as some. I haven’t gone so far as to jump in my van or ute and trawl the streets at a snail pace, loading up the vehicle with junk. Although, that is mostly because at this point in time I don’t have a van or a ute.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever found for free? Here are a couple of the things I have found that I will be busy restoring in the next few weeks…
heh – I DO have a van but, sadly, I have little time to just cruise the streets. i have been known to arrive home on my bike, dump the kids with Alex, and scoot out in the van quicksmart because I saw something fab on the way home though…. Kiddie size love-swing was the latest find.
