reindeer cookies

reindeer cookies

We are about a week into our advent calendar and we have managed to do most things so far. Today was a bit of a challenging one, making these adorable reindeer cookies. We didn’t manage to find choc covered pretzels anywhere, but these ones were fine. I was a little tired and impatient with the cookie baking today so I will attempt them again when less frazzled.

You may well be wondering how do I have time to make reindeer cookies? It’s because I am otherwise domestically inept, and neglect doing my cleaning, laundry, dishes and even feeding the children sometimes. I was scolding the little one for eating so much of the cookie dough when I realised it was way past lunchtime and the little guy was just hungry! So you see where my priorities are.

8 days in and I am exhausted,
By the time Xmas arrives I fear what state I may be in
The gingerbread house nearly killed me today
, bit scared about the reindeer cookies
Can I blame you for all this ? Xx

Ha ha! I am the same Sim – would rather spend hours making something delicious or lovely than tidy up a bit! As a teenager, i used to cook elaborate 3 course meals and leave the washing up for someone else to do- not much has changed. Our cookies keep losing their noses, eyes and antlers- maybe the peanut cookies would be stickier than the gingerbread… Another attempt perhaps. Xx

I don’t know whether to proclaim myself slack or learned, but being up to my fourth year of advent calendars with the kids I keep things really, really REALLY easy. Hell – one morning we made the activity that all the kids (we’ve got friends with kids staying with us) got to choose one thing to go in Charlie’s lunchbox! They loved it – and my workload was lessened. I recommend searching out a lot of these options. Often, I don’t even put anything in the calendar till that morning. There’s enough pressure at this time of year, I reckon. Or I really am just slack.

p.s. This approach has not improved my housework level!

    The biscuits look fabulous!
Housework will be there all year round, but Christmas only once a year. I always like to think that I am helping to build my children’s immune system. And I figure with washing that the kids are nearly nude all summer anyway.
Have fun with your Christmassy goodness.

ha ha me too – there are piles of dishes covering half the kitchen, and our back room looks like a shrine to the god of un-sorted laundry, but hey, we made shortbread today!

Hey! Great cookies! You are totally normal with your priorities. Cooking and spending time having fun with your littlies is much better than housework.
    Cheers

Love your reindeer cookies! You inspired me to make some for a preschool Christmas party and they were a hit. Likewise, my house looked like a disaster zone… but at least we had cute cookies!
